Parks & Recreation is stepping up to the plate after the Jefferson Parish Employee Diversity & Inclusion Board called its members to be more inclusive in their respective departments. In addition, Daniella Bello of the Parish President’s Office called upon each member to try and accommodate non-English speakers in materials that go out to the public. Parks & Recreation is joining this effort to convert many of the flyers and online materials into Spanish. “We have had great success in just the first week of having dual materials in both English and Spanish. We’ve seen an influx in Spanish-speaking participants registering for our programs,” said JPRD Director Mario Bazile. The department hopes to be a leader in inclusivity across all departments.
