How do I apply to be an instructor for Parks & Recreation?

We are excited about your interest in becoming a part of Recreation. Call your recreation office for more information on becoming an instructor.

 

How do I become a volunteer coach for Parks & Recreation?

All volunteers should contact the Playground Supervisor at the location they wish to coach and discuss which coaches are needed for youth sports. All volunteer coaches will go through an interview process by the Athletics Division and undergo a background check.

 

I would like to reserve a room at a park or playground. Who do I talk to?

What are the rules on residency?

All Jefferson Parish residents that have never played in the Jefferson Parish playground system, can choose their home playground. If a home playground is already established, a waiver needs to be filled and filed with the Recreation Department. All participants residing outside of Jefferson Parish must fill out a waiver. Parents must show their drivers license or state id when turning in the waiver.

Waiver fees are payable by check or money order. No cash is accepted.

  • The waiver fee for Jefferson Parish residents choosing another playground is $25.00
  • The waiver fee for non-Jefferson Parish residents is a yearly fee of $150.00

How do I get a recreational I.D. for my child?

The Athletics Division puts out a list of dates and sites that a recreation I.D. can be made. Call our Athletics Division for available dates and times to take an id. Eastbank: 504-736-6999 or Westbank: 504-349-5000.

 

I have a concern about a park. Who should I call?

If you have a concern about a park, please contact the respective Main Office at (504) 736-6999 (Eastbank Office) or (504) 349-5000 (Westbank Office). Email us at [email protected].

 

How do I register for sports or classes?

Participants can register for sports and classes using our CivicRec site at jprd.org.

 

What are Recreation office hours?

Recreation office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

 

Can I reserve a tennis court or field online?

At this time, residents cannot reserve tennis courts online. Tennis courts are on a first-come, first-serve basis and are free and open to the public for recreational activity.

Where are the dog parks?

Our dog parks are located at Lafreniere Park, Parc des Familles, Pontiff Playground and the Bonnabel Boat Launch.

 

What is your class or activity withdrawal or refund policy?

All requests must be requested three (3) working days before starting the camp, class, or program. A ten percent service charge will be levied on all refunds. Refunds for payments made by check or money order will be mailed approximately 3-4 weeks after the requested date. Payments made with VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express will receive a refund to their account.
