The WWL Louisiana-sponsored event, Christmas in the Park, promised residents a novel and engaging holiday experience. This much-anticipated family outing offered an exquisite display of over 100 million LED lights, festive decor, and artificial snow.
This year, the event underwent a layout revamp, revealing new features, such as a towering 34-foot Christmas tree and a sports hill that proudly displayed the mascots of local teams.
What sets Christmas in the Park apart from other holiday light events is the custom-made touch from the JPRD and Lafreniere Park maintenance team, who design, create, build, and install nearly all the lights that adorn the Park.
While Recreation and Lafreniere Park employees typically oversee the event in various areas, this year, we saw a collaborative effort with multiple departments participating as event workers throughout the holiday season. The following departments provided their support in making the 37th annual event a success:
- Alario Center
- Drainage
- East Bank Consolidated Fire
- Fleet Management
- Parkways
- Personnel
- Streets
- Traffic & Engineering
- Water
