New and improved. Avondale Playground underwent a major remodel in early December of 2019. The renovation was a massive project to not only beautify the gymnasium but to make it ADA compliant. New gym changes include new basketball and volleyball court flooring, ADA accessible bleachers, new basketball goals and backboards, and a fresh coat of paint on all walls, beams, and doors. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 10, unveiled the updated changes. The 280-day project also included additional garbage storage areas and a new office building for the site manager to serve families in Jefferson Parish better.
